Weight Loss Medication FAQs

What are Semaglutide and Tirzepatide, and how do they aid in weight loss? Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are prescription medications used in medical weight loss programs. They belong to the class of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists and work by mimicking the action of natural hormones in the body. This helps regulate appetite, control blood sugar levels, and promote weight loss by reducing hunger and increasing feelings of fullness.

What are the potential side effects of using Semaglutide and Tirzepatide for weight loss? Common side effects of Semaglutide and Tirzepatide may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, and headache. Our healthcare providers closely monitor patients for these side effects and provide guidance on managing them effectively.

What results can I expect from using Semaglutide and Tirzepatide for weight loss? Results from using Semaglutide and Tirzepatide vary depending on individual factors such as adherence to the treatment plan, diet, exercise, and overall health status. Our medical weight loss clinic has seen significant weight loss outcomes in patients who incorporate either Semaglutide or Tirzepatide into their personalized treatment regimen. We work closely with each patient to set realistic goals and track progress over time.

How do Semaglutide and Tirzepatide differ from each other in terms of weight loss efficacy and cost? Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are both effective in promoting weight loss when used as part of a comprehensive medical weight loss program. While both medications have demonstrated promising results in clinical trials, it's important to consider the significant price difference between them. Semaglutide has been shown to achieve significant weight loss outcomes and is generally more affordable compared to Tirzepatide. At our medical weight loss clinic, we provide personalized recommendations based on each patient's medical history, treatment preferences, and budget considerations. We prioritize patient satisfaction and strive to offer cost-effective solutions that meet their weight loss goals.

Are GLP-1 inhibitor medications safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding? GLP-1 inhibitor medications are generally not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to limited safety data in these populations. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, it's important to discuss treatment options with your healthcare provider.

Can you send a prescription to my pharmacy to see if my insurance will cover brand name GLP-1 medications? Yes! We are more than happy to try that for you. In that case we will just be charging an office visit fee to write the prescription and do not charge any additional fees. We cannot guarantee your insurance will cover the medication, nor can we predict what your co-pay will be. Please check with your insurance to answer these questions. Be aware, that in our experience most insurance companies do not cover the GLP-1 inhibitor medications.

My Vial of semaglutide/mounjaro was left out of the refrigerator, what should I do? Usually, this medicine stays good for a short time if it's kept at room temperature or cooler. If you've left it out of the fridge for a day, just put it back in as soon as you can. It should still be fine. But, if you start to see that it's not working like it used to, you might need to get a new one.

Tesosterone FAQs

What is Testosterone therapy, and how does it work? Testosterone therapy is a treatment option for men with low testosterone levels, also known as hypogonadism. It involves administering exogenous testosterone, typically through injections, patches, gels, or pellets, to restore testosterone levels to normal. Testosterone plays a crucial role in various bodily functions, including muscle mass, bone density, libido, mood, and energy levels. Testosterone therapy aims to alleviate symptoms associated with low testosterone levels and improve overall well-being.

What are the benefits of Testosterone therapy for men? Testosterone therapy can offer several benefits for men with low testosterone levels, including increased muscle mass and strength, improved bone density, enhanced libido and sexual function, increased energy levels and vitality, improved mood and cognitive function, and potential cardiovascular benefits. It can also help alleviate symptoms such as fatigue, depression, irritability, and decreased motivation associated with low testosterone levels.

How often do I need to receive testosterone injections? The frequency of testosterone injections can vary depending on the individual's needs and the specific treatment protocol prescribed by their healthcare provider. Typically, testosterone injections are administered once every 1 to 2 weeks to maintain stable testosterone levels. However, some individuals may require more frequent injections, while others may require less frequent injections. It's essential to follow the dosage and administration schedule recommended by your healthcare provider for optimal results.

Do Testosterone injections have to go into my muscle? No, not all injections need to go into the muscle. While traditional testosterone injections have been administered intramuscularly, recent research has shown that subcutaneous injections, which are injected into the fatty tissue just beneath the skin, can be equally effective. Studies comparing intramuscular and subcutaneous injections of testosterone have found comparable efficacy in achieving and maintaining stable testosterone levels. Subcutaneous injections offer several potential advantages, including a shorter needle length, reduced pain and discomfort, and the potential for self-administration by the patient. However, the choice between intramuscular and subcutaneous injections should be made in consultation with your healthcare provider, taking into account factors such as individual preference, injection site availability, and specific treatment goals. As your healthcare provider, we are here to guide you in making informed decisions about your treatment options.
